
The eastern tent caterpillar can cause serious deforestation but rarely kill trees except those already weak. Their preference is black cherry trees but can be found on almost any fruit or shade tree. These little guys and their few hundred friends were found on an apple tree.

These tent caterpillars give me the creeps, pardon the pun. I feared them as a child in Pennsylvania, when they'd drop out of our crabapple tree on one of us kids, and everyone would have a fit knocking it off and squishing it. My grandfather burned the nests. Ick.
I have never seen them here in Serbia, thank goodness!
